Our copy of the first book, Rosie's Wild Ride by Paige Murray (@paigedmurray + @zonderkidz) is very well loved, and now they just released the second book, Rosie's Ranch Rescue! 🫶🏽

These cute stories follow Rosie a Clydesdale horse and her little-girl owner, Oakley. There are also other friends to meet like very grouchy Thumbs, the cat.
Rosie and Oakley like to do big things together and always end up helping others. 💕

If you have kids who enjoys fantasy, they're going to eat these up! But guess what, the stories also are loosely based on the life of David from the Bible which makes them even more fun!

We follow the life of Aiden Errolson as he goes on many life-altering adventures, makes friends with the enemy, and discovers his true purpose.

We have been reading these aloud to my six and eight-year-old boys and they ALWAYS ask for more chapters!! And let's be honest, I'm completely invested as well!! 🫶🏽🤣

These are great for ages 8+ as independent reads!

✨ Favorite family discipleship resources

We have used many resources throughout the years but this is just a sampling of some recent favorites:

• First of all reading and memorizing the Bible is the most important thing!

• Catechism - an easy way to instill truth into our mornings

• We also enjoy reading through a Bible story book. Our favorite of all time is the Old and New testament set from @lithoskids. They are continuing to add more storybooks like Parables, Proverbs, Ecclesiastics and Job. All of their books are incredible!

• Hymn study - this is a fantastic way to hear from composers who have written the world's greatest hymns. We enjoy using the Then Sings My Soul series.

Devotionals to help illustrate Christian living:

• The Sword by Marty Machowski - this book weaves a fictional story with the history and truth from the book of Romans. We have enjoyed Marty's other books as well.

• Little Pilgrim's Progress by Helen Taylor - we also enjoy the version from Lithos Kids. We have read through this story several times now and each time we come away with valuable insights.

Christian biographies - I'm so thankful for the many stories available from those who have gone before us. There are many amazing books but these are just a few favorites:

• The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom

• Trial and Triumph by Richard Hannula

• Christian Heroes Then and Now Series from @ywampublishing

• Do Great Things for God picture book series from @thegoodbookcompanyusa

➡️ The Imagination Station series from @focusonthefamily

This series is very well-loved in our home and with 35 books available, it is one that definitely keeps us busy! ☺️

The series follows cousins, Patrick and Beth, as they travel back in time and experience all kinds of adventures throughout history.

Book 34, Drought, Wind, and Fire, just released here in September. In this story, Patrick and Beth get to go back in Bible times to meet the Prophet Elijah.

I love that all of the books are historically accurate and with so many to choose from it is easy to find a book that fits the time period we are learning about in school! 💕

➡️ The books are perfect for ages 5+ as both read alouds and 7+ for independent reads.

My name is Sonya! I'm married to my wonderful husband and am a second-generation homeschool mom to three (two boys ages 8 and 6 and a baby girl who is two). 😊

➡️ I enjoy salty snacks over sweet. But one of my favorite snacks is an Acai bowl.

➡️ I asked my husband what a random fact about me is and he said, "You have a bookshelf in every room of the house." It's true. 🤗

✨ What you'll find in this space:

• Book reviews: Due to time restraints, these will MOSTLY happen in my stories this year (saved in a highlight) and will look like mini reviews.

However, they will still include all of the usual content warnings and honest thoughts. Helping you make informed choices for your family is important to me.

• Book Lists: I enjoy creating topical book lists! There are many available in my website for you to check out!

• Homeschool: I understand it's nice when an account has a niche. But for us, books and homeschool go hand-in-hand. You can't have one without the other. 😉 I enjoy sharing the books we use for studying various topics (especially history).

• Read Along: Each month I host a virtual book club and have enjoyed reading so many wonderful books with some of you this year!

✨ My hope is that everything I share points to Christ. The reviews I write, the thoughts I share, and the books I choose are all filtered through a Biblical lens.

I am still learning how to balance time and this app, but I hope you will stick around to chat about books! It's my favorite thing to do! 💗😉

Collecting books for our home library is definitely one of my favorite hobbies! 😆

But how do you choose which books to purchase?

I usually ask myself these five questions -

1. Is the story full of beauty, truth and goodness?
2. Are the stories living?
3. Is this a book we will want to revisit often?
4. Does it fit with a curriculum we are using?
5. Does it fit our budget?

Today our #livingbooklegacy book group is sharing about favorite illustrators.

I know I have previously mentioned the work of Torben Kuhlmann @torben_kuhlmann_illustration but his books are always worth mentioning!!! 🤩

Through the years we have enjoyed collecting and reading the Mouse Adventures series. Each book is set in a different historical time period and follows a well-known historical figure.

We really enjoyed this sweet story about two brothers trying to get along! With two boys in our home the story definitely felt relatable. 😉 As a parent, I appreciated the aspect of learning how to work together to accomplish something great!

My oldest has shown so much interest in learning Spanish so I am so excited to add some language study into our homeschool next year! 💞

I am adding in early church history from @generations.ministries and a few missionary studies.

✨ Science:

• We will be doing a unit on Space from @thegoodandthebeautiful

• We will also be reading through the God Made Me unit from @generations.ministries and reading living books alongside as we discuss various topics.

✨ History:

We will be using @agentlefeast as our history spine. We are doing Cycle One which covers early American History.

I am so excited to study this time period with my boys and am looking forward to diving into the wonderful book list!

✨ Geography:

Because we are studying early American History, our geography will be centered around the 50 states.

I will be using my new literature guide, Read Through the USA, that I will be releasing soon!!!! 👀☺️

✨ 2025-2026 Family Subjects ✨

Ahhh!!! Seeing all of these wonderful books makes me so excited for our new school year. 💞

✨ Morning Time:
We will be using @agentlefeast as our spine curriculum this year. Their morning time plans are beautiful and will cover all of our Bible and beauty subjects:

• Bible Reading and Memorization
• Hymn, Art, & Composer Study
• Fables
• Read Alouds
• Nature Study
